It's Cool in the Furnace

July 9-15, 2018

Directed by Robin Mayhew

Thank you for your interest in our annual Musical Theatre Camp! Our camp has concluded activities for 2018. If you are interested in participating in future years, please contact Robin Mayhew at

For one week each July, St. Paul's hosts dozens of middle-school age performers, plus youth and parent helpers, as they put together a one-act musical on a biblical theme. Students audition, memorize roles, learn choreography, fix up costumes, and enjoy snacks, games, and fellowship.

The 2018 performance retells the story of Daniel, his three faithful friends, and the king who ordered them thrown into a fiery furnace for refusing to worship his idols. The youth-oriented musical "It's Cool in the Furnace" by Buryl Red and Grace Hawthorne has been performed at churches nationwide for over three decades because the tale is timeless but the musical spins a fun, funny, and modern take on an old story.

Performances are offered on the last day of camp, and during both worship services on Sunday.
